Jewelry Care

Welcome to Raffie & Julia!

All of the jewerly are crafted from natural pearls/ stones, each being a unique creation, showcasing variations in shape and color that add to its individual charm. While we carefully handpick pearls exhibiting the best luster, it is important to note that natural imperfections are inherent to these gems. These unique characteristics are not flaws but rather a testament to the organic beauty and authenticity of baroque pearls. Please embrace these imperfections and allows the true essence of the pendant to shine, celebrating the natural artistry of each pearl. We hope you enjoy wearing them as much as we do making them.

Majority of our jewelry is plated with a coating of gold (for gold color) or rhodium (for white gold color), over a base metal such as sterling silver (92.5% silver), high-quality of brass or titanium steel. We souce good quality of plating to ensure your jewelry last as long as possible. Plated jewelry is a great option if you want to buy qulity jewelry without overspending. All of our jewelry is lead and nickel free and won’t irritate your skin.  Some of our jewelry are using gold filled, which means gold is not only plated on the surface but filled in the base metal, to ensure tarnish resistant.

Pearls

Pearls are organic gems which require careful daily care. Pearls are susceptible to water or acid and leacing with water or sweat on them will cause deterioration or discoloration. Contact with cosmetics or other chemicals also lead to loss of shine or other deteriorations. Be sure to take off your pearls before exercising or bathing and putting on only after make-up is highly recommended.

After use, wipe off any smudge or moisture with a jewelry cleaning cloth or a soft, dry cloth before storing. Do not store pearls together with or close to perfumes, insect repelient or other volatile chemicals which might cause shine to degrade. Avoid stoing at a place subject to a direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or is excessively humid or dry and store in a light blocking place. Pearls are delicate and need careful handling and storage to prevent flaws or damages from rubbing or shocks.

Mother of pearl has the same characteristics as pearls and need the same care and handling as pearls.

Peridot

It is a delicate gem stone weak against cosmetics, household cleaners or other chemicals as well as thermal shocks such as sudden temperature changes.

Clean with fresh water and a soft brush, rinse in fresh waterand then wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Amethyst

Take care because it is weak against sunlight and might cause discoloration if subjected to sun light for a long time.

Clean with fresh water and a soft brush, rinse in fresh water and then wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Lapis & Other Organic or Porous Gem Stones

These stones are very delicate and some discoloration, cracks or flaws from aging may be inevitable. Take extreme care for handling to keep the beautiful look.

Always take off your gems BEFORE washing your hands or starting exercising, DO NOT expose them to water, soapy water or detergent. Keep them away from sulfuric components of hot springs. They may present discoloration from contents of cosmetics or perfumes. Be sure to gently wipe sweat, skin oil or smudge off with a soft, dry cloth or a jewerly cloth WITHOUT polishing effect. Avoid using or storage for a long time at a place with strong sunlight. Do not drop, hit against a hard object,  or rub to prevent flaws, rupture or cracks. Do not leave your gem stones at a dry, hot or humid place for a long time which may make them brittle.

Never attempt to use ultrasonic-cleaning for your gems.

Metal

Please keep your gold plated jewerly away from liquids, harsh chemicals, and costimetics as these could ruin the finish of the jewerly.

The gold filled jewelry and sterling silver pieces can be worn in water, however, it is recommended to avoid harsh chemicals as this could ruin the color and the shine of the jewerly. Also, the pearl/ stones along the jewelry might need to be kept away from water too (see details for each gem type.)

You can clean your jewelry with a cotten ball or a soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt, or use the silver cleaning cloth in the package to polish them (the silver cleaning cloth SHALL NOT be used for pearls/ gem stones as it is with polishing effect). It is highly recommended to take your jewerly off before exercising or sleeping to get the longest wear possible and to avoid breaking or damaging. Please store each piece in a sealed bag when not wearing.
